TOP POPES' QUOTES ABOUT THE HUMAN BEING
"Today, the Church's social doctrine focuses especially on man as he is involved in a complex network of relationships within modern societies...The human sciences and philosophy are helpful for interpreting man's central place within society and for enabling him to understand himself better as a "social being". However, man's true identity is only fully revealed to him through faith."
HUMAN BEING QUOTES
"Every human being is searching for his meaning and happiness. Man is driven by an inner searching and an inner sense of discovery and he looks for fulfillment and satisfaction. Man is always searching for his completion and he longs for that which gives him perfect realisation."
Eleanor Grech
The term potential which we use so much is not because we believe in life but because we believe in the benefits of life. This is a distortion. So if I have health... health becomes everything... it becomes a god. The economy... another god. But what are we making of ourselves with our money with our economy? Are we becoming better or are we becoming zombies? With all the health that I have what type of person I am becoming? Ultimately, my identity is my relationships. How capabale am I to enter in a relationship, in a creative and life-giving relationship with another.
A mother who had a disabled child told me “believe me, my son gives me life, because of his disability.” So it is possible that a disabled boy can find life-fullfilment much more than an intelligent boy who made a career at university but this became an idol and he destroyed all those around him to make sure he remains at the top.
So in the end, it’s what is essential in life. For today’s society what’s essential is that the time we have on earth we spend it easy, painfree, happily satisfying ourselves rather than developing this capacity to enter into a relationship with another, which is ultimately the only thing which gives sense to life.
